Reporting Relationship:

The Software Engineer will report directly to the Head of Development.

Staff:

No direct staff oversight

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop world class software in a highly-visible role in our Company
  • Work with video analytics and transfer video between different formats
  • Conceptualize and articulate ideas clearly and concisely to team members
  • Document status, steps taken and communication with stakeholders for project work
  • Collaborate with other support personnel and developers within the organization
  • Participate in design and development sessions and assist in training new team members when needed

Experience Requirements:

  • Technical Degree – two (2) year minimum; four (4) year recommended
  • 5 plus years of experience in software engineering role
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience specifically related to the troubleshooting of software applications
  • React.js (front end language) required
  • Node.js (back end language) required
  • Agile experience required
  • Git/Github required
  • Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu) Operating System required
  • Electron knowledge desired
  • Helpful, but not required, Python, AWS knowledge and Docker
  • Experience working with video security systems preferred – CCTV or Access control
  • Experience with Java Script, C or C++ preferred
  • Codec Design or Usage experience preferred – ability to transfer video between different formats
  • Good knowledge of video compression protocols preferred such as H.264 – MJPEG – MPEG-4
  • Installation and configuration experience preferred
  • Troubleshooting at the command line preferred
  • Familiarity with code development and design
  • Understanding of TCP, IP and UDP protocol stacks
  • Familiarity with networking principles and client-server applications
